This search interface was designed to integrate the authenticity of running text search with the flexibility and notational power of the VISL annotation scheme for syntactic trees. What you can search, is a growing set of Portuguese news text sentences (38.000 words) from the CETEMPúblico and CETEMFolha corpora, automatically PALAVRAS-annotated by Eckhard Bick (VISL), and manually revised by Susana Afonso, Raquel Marchi and Anabela Barreiro Colasuonno as part of a joint venture with Diana Santos (Linguateca), who maintains the central Floresta site, and has also programmed a dedicated search tool (Águia) for the Floresta treebank. The PALAVRAS-parser is a multi-stage hybrid system, containing both Constraint Grammar and Phrase Structure modules. PALAVRAS is accessible for online use.
